TLC with Jo Swift in Ashburton
A simple programme for making everyone feel loved and special.
TLC is a practical, simplified version of Felicity Warner’s award winning Soul Midwives Training, offering families and anyone working with people at end of life practical ideas and skills that can help improve comfort and ease of the dying person.
The workshop is a rich and varied day, with different ways to engage in the subject matter, including practical tasks, small group and one to one work. Whilst we will of course be talking about dying, the days are fun, enlightening and far from doom and gloom.
Jo will bring examples from her work with the dying to show how simple steps can make this time gentler for everyone involved.
TLC is for anyone who has an interest in widening their understanding and empathy around the dying journey, but especially if you are:
- Currently caring for or expecting to care for a loved one with a terminal diagnosis
- Working as a holistic or complementary therapist with clients with an end of life diagnosis
- Developing compassionate communities and looking at ways to support people in your community
What the workshop will cover
- The four stages of dying and how care can be tailored to support each of these stages
- Holding a loving vigil – how to create and keep a loving, sacred space at the death-bed
- Ways to comfort and support – tending to the physical and emotional needs of your person along their journey
- Tender conversations – using listening skills to ensure that your loved one feels heard
